I appreciate that the gaming year of 2020 is letting me clear up my backlog

The beginning of 2020 has been really slow, video game wise at least. With the lack of interesting releases I´ve been finishing off games that was stuck in my backlog for whatever reason. It is so nice to live through a slow time in game releases every now and then so you can actually afford playing through games without feeling like you are missing out on something new!
Batman Arkham Knight
Started out this game back in 2019, a few years after I first bought it back when it first released in June 2015. But since I got the PC version, and we all know how terrible that was on release, I never played it. I'm a huge fan of the Arkham serie and I can finally say that I have finished all four of them, yes I am counting Origins as part of the serie, sue me.
I very much enjoyed the game honestly, the combat was just as awesome as the rest of the bunch and I did find the story intriguing. Even if I already were fully aware of the Arkham Knight twist. But again the game is old by now so what were to be expected honestly.
Recommended? YES, but you may want to play it on the PS4 or the Xbox One.
GRIS
The game that none of us seem to be able to pronounce correctly, I just say gris since I find that to be funny since it means pig in swedish, HA HA ha ha… Sorry… It's A highly praised game and winner of the games for impact award at The Game Awards in 2019 and I picked it up on launch but could not get in to it.
The game by itself is not very challenging by any means so even a complete noob like myself can get through it without to much confused head scratching.
In all seriousness though the game is more of an experience more than a game with its focus on appearance and graphics. Don´t get me wrong, I think this game looks absolutely amazing I really do. But this is the sort of game that at least I need to be in a special mood to play. And that's what I mean by my first statement, this game is not something I think you should play just for the sake of playing it, this is a game you should be in the right state of mind to really enjoy.
Recommended? YES, if you are looking for a rather relaxed game that won´t offer great challenge but rather a chill and meaningful experience with lots of heart
Donkey Kong adventure DLC for Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle
When first hearing that there was a game in the working featuring the dreadful Rabbids along side Mario… Well let's just say people were not very excited to see the result. But boy were we all wrong!
Mario Rabbids Kingdom Battle is a Xcom-like turn based strategy game that, sure it was a bit dumbed down compared to Xcom, was so brilliant I could not get my hands off it.
Donkey Kong adventure is the biggest DLC pack released so far and it completely changes how you play the game. You can no longer change between characters instead you are stuck using DK, Rabbid Peach and Rabbid Cranky. But they are such a great team you really don't miss out on that part.
Recommended? YES, if you love Xcom and you own the base game then go for it. You will not be disappointed
Untitled Goose Game
BEWARE OF THE GOOSE! This game took the world by storm and was highly rewarded at DICE in february by winning the Game of the Year award and many other . Even though the sheer fact of that pretty much meant that internet exploded by comments saying “this just proves that the whole thing is taken as a joke”. And I can see where they´re coming from but I think the simple gameplay and the sheer joy the game brings really did put it in a spot where there are no equals. But was it really the best game of 2019? No, not even close. But was it a special one? Yes, yes it was.
Seriously how can you not love a game where the whole point of it is to be a complete jerk to any and all you meet. This game had me laughing harder than any game ever have. Give me more please
Recommended? YES, read above text and you will get the point
Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
One of the highest regarded games of one of the most beloved video game franchises. The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening released first back in 1993 and last year it go re-released in HD on the Switch. This was my first experience with the game honestly and despite it having some technical flaws it was a great experience. It was just one of those games that really felt great playing handheld and because of its history not a surprise there. But finding such a perfect Switch game is just the best feeling.
Recommended? YES, it proves that there truly is a demand for a new 2D Zelda game even after Breath of the Wild.
